GJNRF RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS CFBP JAMNALAL BAJAJ AWARD FOR FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES

The Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation (GJNRF) has been honoured with the esteemed Jamnalal Bajaj Uchit Vyavahar Puraskar for a Charitable Association by the Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP). The award ceremony, held on May 16th, 2023, at the Indian Merchants Chamber in Mumbai, recognised GJNRF for its commitment to fair business practices and ethically driven philanthropy.
Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Chairman of GJNRF, received the distinguished award at the hands of the chief guest Mr. Keki Mistry, Vice Chairman & CEO of HDFC Ltd., and Mr. B.N. Srikrishna, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
Established in 1966, the CFBP Jamnalal Bajaj Award recognises businessmen, industrialists, manufacturing and service enterprises of all sizes, as well as charitable organisations, for upholding the highest ethical standards in their operations. The awards are evaluated based on various parameters, including customer satisfaction, employee motivation, environmental protection, compliance with the law, and corporate social responsibility.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Kothari remarked, “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the past chairmen of GJNRF, Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya and Mr. Ketan Parikh, for their exemplary efforts over the years. The GJNRF Trust has been effectively managed by the board members and supported by industry bodies such as GJEPC, GIA, BDB, and IGI, among others.
“GJNRF was established to project a human face of the whole industry, showcase its collective philanthropic efforts, and promote a unified agenda,” he noted.
Mr. Kothari emphasised that this recognition underscores the foundation’s unwavering commitment to making a significant impact on the gem and jewellery industry and society as a whole.
Reflecting on the foundation’s inception, Kothari mentioned that it was established in 1999, in the aftermath of the Kargil War, when industry luminaries came together to form the GJNRF Trust, which is registered in Mumbai. The primary objective was to provide aid to the families of martyrs and defence personnel. Since its establishment, GJNRF has undertaken numerous charitable activities, offering timely assistance and mobilising support during natural disasters such as cyclones, earthquakes, droughts, wars, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
