KGSMA Raises Key Gold Trade Sector Issues with Chief Minister
Adv. S. Abdul Nazar, State General Secretary of the Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants Association (KGSMA), met Kerala Chief Minister Shri V.D. Satheesan and brought various issues concerning Kerala’s gold trade sector to his attention.

The Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants Association has submitted a detailed project report to the Chief Minister proposing the establishment of a modern Jewellery Park in Kerala.
The proposed project aims to transform the gold jewellery sector into a more organised and technology-driven industry by bringing multiple activities connected with the jewellery value chain together within a single industrial hub.
KGSMA State President K. Surendran and General Secretary S. Abdul Nazar said the proposed project is expected to attract an investment of more than ₹2,000 crore and would require approximately 30 acres of land.
Jewellery Manufacturing, Refining, Hallmarking and Exports Under One Hub
Once operational, the proposed Jewellery Park would bring together a wide range of activities associated with the jewellery industry, including jewellery manufacturing, design, refining, hallmarking, testing, packaging, logistics and exports.
The park is also proposed to include modern design centres, quality-testing and hallmarking facilities, refining and gold-recycling units, training centres, warehousing and logistics facilities, and infrastructure to support jewellery exports.

According to the project report, the proposed Jewellery Park is expected to create around 24,000 direct employment opportunities, in addition to a large number of indirect jobs in ancillary industries.
