Maharashtra State Vigilance Committee Workshop
Maharashtra State Vigilance Committee Workshop: The final seminar was addressed by Smt. Chitra Wagh, Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC), and attended by Lok Sabha Sansad Shri Rajesh Verma, who together engaged with nearly 300 jewellers from across Maharashtra. During the workshop, GJC emphasized that the gem and jewellery sector is a ₹12 lakh crore business, providing over 1 crore jobs and supporting nearly 5 crore dependents, contributing 7–8% to India’s GDP. GJC requested the introduction of skill development courses tailored for the jewellery business and a dedicated section for the industry in central government policy. Smt. Wagh assured that the government will support skill development initiatives and confirmed that a vigilance committee will be formed to further enhance and safeguard the jewellery industry.
