A Grand Celebration of Diamond Legacy
Bharat Diamond Bourse celebrated a fitting tribute to “World Diamond Day,” launched by the Natural Diamond Council, on 8th April with much fanfare. Huge panels depicting the history of diamonds, from their evolution to the present day, featured pictures and descriptions of the respective eras. Images and educational text highlighted the important partner countries involved in diamond mining, manufacturing and marketing, as well as the entire supply chain. Panels clearly explained the journey from the first diamond mined in Golconda, India, to the expansion of trade through Amsterdam, Antwerp and South Africa. The exhibition presented the importance of modern diamond-mining economies such as Botswana, Angola, Namibia, Russia and Canada in a story format to make the information easy to understand.

Industry Leadership and Global Impact
When quizzed about the celebration, Mr. Mehul Shah, Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse opined, “Bharat Diamond Bourse is the world’s largest functional diamond exchange and India has a history of diamond mining, consumption and dominance in cutting and polishing of rough diamonds. Bharat Diamond Bourse houses over 5,400 members involved in daily diamond business. With an in-house customs department and a 100% secured ecosystem BDB offers an unprecedented ecosystem for over 45,000 people involved in the day-to-day diamond trade. The Bharat Diamond Bourse supports the Natural Diamond Council in launching this unique initiative, ‘World Diamond Day,’ through its picturesque depiction of diamonds and their evolution. This dedication to natural diamonds has indeed encouraged all trade members not only in India but all over the world.”

Significance of World Diamond Day
Natural Diamond Council India Managing Director, Ms Richa Singh, said, “World Diamond Day is a platform for people to share what their diamonds truly mean to them. At a time when consumers, especially younger audiences, are looking for more meaningful ways to celebrate, this initiative offers a reason to pause and honour those moments. Natural diamonds are the perfect custodians of our memories. This day is also a reminder of why we do what we do, to bring joy, emotion, and meaning into people’s lives.
We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Bharat Diamond Bourse for their enthusiastic participation and for rallying the trade community to celebrate the day, helping amplify its spirit across the industry.”
