Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference Opens January 29, in Doha, Qatar
The inaugural Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference will be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, at The Ned, from January 29 to 31st, 2025
Conference Details and Purpose
“The conference endeavours to be different from other global industry conferences staged over the past few years. We are fully aware of the recent structural changes that have taken place throughout the diamond and gemstone supply chain. In addition, consumer preferences and behaviour also have significantly shifted,” Alex Popov, Chair of the Organising Committee, declared.
The inaugural Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference will be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, at The Ned, from January 29 to 31st, 2025.
Qatar’s Role in the Diamond and Gemstone Industry
“Since Qatar became a Kimberley Process member in 2021, it has been looking to find its niche in the international diamond and gemstone industry, and this conference is an excellent opportunity for foreign stakeholders to meet and know the Qataris and for Qataris – to learn and define its role in the supply chain for the benefit of all,” Popov added.
Strategic Discussions for Industry Growth
“Together, we’ll propose and discuss new, out-of-the-box strategies to develop, advance and grow the diamond and coloured gemstone industry and trade, ensure its sustainability and profitability throughout the supply chain, and do everything it possibly can to enhance and boost the consumers’ desire for diamonds and gemstones. We’ll do this by engaging miners, including African and South American artisanal miners, with luxury marketing experts,” Popov stated.
Notable Speakers and Participants
Popov noted that while the timeline for the conference is short, it is an opportunity that must not be missed.
“Meanwhile, confirmed prominent speakers and participants are Botswana’s new Minister of Minerals and Energy (Ms) Bogolo Kenewendo; Executive Chairman of DMCC Ahmed Bin Sulayem; Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Chairman Vipul Shah, World Diamond Council, African Mining Ministers and officials; executives of De Beers and other mining companies, GIA, sightholders, diamond bourses, brands and trading centres from over 30 countries.
Anticipated Announcements and Surprises
“We’ll have more news daily, and some surprises will be announced at the conference opening,” he concluded.
