The House of Rose, one of India’s foremost luxury jewellery maisons, celebrated 45 years of enduring luxury and excellence in design in an intimate evening hosted by the founding family — Mr. Biren Vaidya, Karan Vaidya, and Purnima Sheth — at its landmark Ballard Estate flagship in Mumbai. The gathering brought together collectors, connoisseurs, and patrons of the maison for a celebration rooted in legacy and craftsmanship. The milestone occasion unfolded as a curated experience, anchored by a rare archival jewellery showcase from the maison’s private Treasures collection, alongside a preview of Rose’s eight limited-edition collaborative watch timepieces and the unveiling of its first-ever, one-of-a-kind crockery collection — a never-before-seen presentation of collectible design that signalled a thoughtful expansion of the Rose universe beyond fine jewellery.

Forty-Five Years of a Singular Vision
Founded in 1981 by Purnima Sheth and shaped over four decades under the creative leadership of Biren Vaidya, The House of Rose reflects the evolution of Indian luxury itself. From its origins in Mumbai’s historic Opera House jewellery district to its present-day expression at Ballard Estate, the maison has remained defined by discretion, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Creative Leadership and Global Perspective
A quintessential Mumbai native, Biren Vaidya’s formative years at Opera House laid the foundation for a career built on trust, long-standing relationships, and an instinctive understanding of jewellery as both art and emotion. Over the years, his extensive travels across Europe, Switzerland, the Middle East, and India refined his global perspective, shaping him into a true jewellery connoisseur and enabling Rose to seamlessly integrate Indian craftsmanship with international luxury codes.

Reflecting on the milestone, Mr. Biren Vaidya shared:
“Forty-five years have taught me that jewellery is not about moments of brilliance, but about consistency, of values, of craftsmanship, and of relationships. At the same time, we have always understood the changing times and the evolving needs of our customers, without ever compromising on what we stand for. Rose has grown because we never chased trends; instead, we focused on trust, learning, and creating pieces that could stand the test of time. This journey has been as much about people as it has been about design.”

A Curated Showcase of Archival Masterpieces
A defining highlight of the evening was a rare archival jewellery presentation, offering guests an intimate view into some of Rose’s most significant creations across decades. Drawn from the maison’s private Treasures collection, the showcase traced Rose’s design evolution through exceptional gemstones, technical mastery, and narrative-led craftsmanship.

Iconic Creations and Design Heritage
Among the archival highlights were landmark creations such as The Empress of Rose (2011), featuring the world’s largest pear-shaped Colombian emerald at 290.52 carats; La Reina (2012), crafted from over 3,000 carats of Colombian emerald rough; and The Darbari (2024), a rare suite of Colombian cabochon emeralds totalling 400.89 carats, cut from a single extraordinary rough. The presentation also included historically inspired masterpieces such as Cleopatra’s Collar, Nefertari, The Golden Falcon, and The Nile Empress, each reflecting Rose’s mastery of gemstone sourcing, design precision, and storytelling craftsmanship.
A New Chapter: The Debut of the Rose Crockery Collection
The evening also marked the debut of Rose’s first crockery collection, extending the maison’s design philosophy into the lifestyle space. Crafted with the same precision and aesthetic restraint that define its jewellery, the collection draws from a range of refined influences — from the graphic richness of imperial motifs and fine detailing to sculptural contemporary forms and nature-inspired textures — reflecting Rose’s belief that luxury is not limited to adornment, but expressed through the rituals of everyday living.
About The House of Rose
Established in 1981, The House of Rose has grown into India’s foremost luxury jewellery maison, celebrated for its meticulous craftsmanship, ethically sourced diamonds, and creations that embody both poetry and permanence. Under the vision of Biren and Trisha Vaidya, Rose has pioneered immersive experiences that transcend traditional retail — from The MEZZ and The Treasure Chest to The Watch Bar. Its flagship boutique in Ballard Estate reimagines fine jewellery as a world of artistry, culture, and refinement, positioning Rose as a tastemaker on the global luxury stage.
