De Beers Group, the world’s leading diamond company, marked a significant milestone in the Indian jewellery landscape with the official launch of the “Heera Hai Aapke Liye” program at IIJS Signature. The star-studded event featured actress Sonakshi Sinha, who joined Ms. Shweta Harit, Global Senior Vice President of De Beers Group and CEO of Forevermark, to unveil an initiative dedicated to making natural diamonds an integral part of daily life for the modern Indian consumer.
The 18th edition of IIJS Bharat – Signature 2026, organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), concluded in Mumbai, marking a strong start to the global gems and jewellery trade calendar for 2026. As the first major B2B trade show of the year, the event set a bullish tone for the industry, with an estimated ₹75,000 crore in business expected to be realised over the next three months.
India’s gem and jewellery exports to the United States witnessed a sharp contraction during April–December 2025, declining 44.42% year-on- year to US$ 3.86 billion, compared to US$ 6.95 billion in the corresponding period last year. Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, attended the India–Israel CEOs Forum on 20th November 2025 at Hotel Dan Tel Aviv, following his nomination by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, as a representative from the Indian side. During the visit, he also met Mr. Nir Barkat, Minister of Economy and Industry, Israel.
Under the Export Promotion Mission, the government will provide priority support to sectors impacted by recent global tariff escalations, such as textiles, leather, gems & jewellery, engineering goods, and marine products. These interventions aim to help sustain export orders, protect jobs, and support diversification into new geographies.
Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), was invited to attend the meeting organised with selected representatives of various industry sectors that contribute majorly to India’s merchandise exports chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at New Delhi, on 3rd November 2025. Mr. Kirit Bhansali was representing the Gems & Jewellery sector that contributes 7% to India’s Merchandise Exports. The meeting was convened to seek inputs from leading export sectors on measures to strengthen India’s competitiveness in global trade.
India’s gem and jewellery exports record a steady recovery in the first half of FY2025–26, witnessing a growth of 3.66% to US$ 14.09 billion between April and September 2025 compared to US$ 13.60 billion in the same period last year. This growth comes despite global headwinds, reflecting the resilience and adaptability of India’s jewellery exporters as festive and wedding season demand gains momentum.
