The India–Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which abolishes customs duty on imports of gems and jewellery in Oman from India, is expected to significantly boost India’s exports to Oman and strengthen direct trade linkages between the two countries, according to the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

Shri Kirit Bhansali, Chairman, GJEPC, attended the India–Israel CEOs Forum on 20th November 2025 at Hotel Dan Tel Aviv, following his nomination by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, as a representative from the Indian side. During the visit, he also met Mr. Nir Barkat, Minister of Economy and Industry, Israel.

Mr. Kirit Bhansali was representing the Gems & Jewellery sector that contributes 7% to India’s Merchandise Exports. The meeting was convened to seek inputs from leading export sectors on measures to strengthen India’s competitiveness in global trade.
India’s gem and jewellery exports record a steady recovery in the first half of FY2025–26, witnessing a growth of  3.66% to US$ 14.09 billion between April and September 2025 compared to US$ 13.60 billion in the same period last year. This growth comes despite global headwinds, reflecting the resilience and adaptability of India’s jewellery exporters as festive and wedding season demand gains momentum.
